On
Sunday 5 August, over one hundred people enjoyed a
glorious morning tea and picnic lunch in Henley Brook,
to raise funds for two women’s refuges and view
competitors in this years Avon Descent.
Assisting the ladies at Zonta and Koolkuna Refuges is
just one example of the many projects that the women of
the Zonta Club of Swan Hills Inc. support every year to
help less fortunate women in the community.

VALLEY COMES ALIVE WITH THE SOUND OF MUSIC
Over two
hundred people un-wrapped their picnic rugs and chairs
for the annual Zonta Club of Swan Hills Inc., Hot
February Night on the banks of the Avon River in Henley
Brook on Saturday 16 February 2008.
The rhythmic
sounds of four-piece band, Off the Record, echoed across
the valley and entertained the toe-tapping crowd for
over three hours with 60s and 70s music from some old
favourites, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley and many more.
Over four thousand dollars was collected in entry fees
and raffles on the night. Monies collected will
assist international, national and local service
projects.

September - Houghton's Winery Fair
A crafty affair.
Held in the grounds of Houghton's Winery in our splendid Swan Valley in September, this Community Craft Fair attracts many visitors.
Members take the opportunity to sell a variety of cakes, jams and craft items.
It's a great day full of fun, resulting in good sales and a boost to the club's service funds.
October - Bassendean Community Fair & Expo

Information Day
For Swan Hills Club this is an opportunity to promote Zonta to the general public.
An information booth with photographs of some of our Club projects and information regarding Zonta is displayed.
The day provides and opportunity for members also talk to interested passers-by / potential members.
With Christmas rapidly approaching, the Fair is an ideal time to fund raise by selling any Christmas craft goods and of course a raffle.
19th November 2008 - Knickers
Night
Pants down!
In November each year, the Zonta Club of Swan Hills holds its annual Knickers Night.
Each member is asked to bring at least one pair
of undies and optional toiletries to donate to the
Koolkuna Womens Refuge.
We are reminded that many abused women find themselves at the refuge in only the clothes they are wearing and the donation of knickers is greatly appreciated.
