2010 Zonta Swan Hills Studies Assistance Grant Recipient

The winner of the Zonta Club Swan Hills Studies Assistance Grant for 2010 is Alganesh Weldearagay Gidey.  Alganesh came to Australia five years ago and had lived in a refugee camp since she was five years old.

Alganesh is a worthy winner and the award of $500 will make a positive impact on her studies in Year 12 at Cyril Jackson Senior High School.  

 At the Awards Evening on November 16th 2009, Cardi Shearer represented Cyril Jackson College.  She spoke of the significance of the Studies Assistance Grant and provided an update on the progress of previous winners. She thanked the Club, on behalf of the Cyril Jacksons College, for the grant.  She said it helped the winners to buy books, graphic calculators, etc.  In addition, it was an honour, and meant a great deal to the families of the winners for the students to be recognised for their effort.
