2008 Zonta Swan Hills Studies Assistance Grant Recipient
Rahel Abraha Gebreselassie

Rahel Abraha Gebreselassie is the Zonta Club of Swan Hills Studies Assistance Grant winner for the 2008 academic year.  Rahel came to Australia from Sudan in 2005 with no formal schooling and undertook 18 months study at the Cyril Jackson Intensive English Centre before starting Year 11 in 2007.  She has just completed Year 11 and is also undertaking a School Based Traineeship in Aged Care with the aim to finish Year 12 and to complete a Diploma of Enrolled Nursing at TAFE.

The Studies Assistance Grant will provide financial assistance for Rahel to complete her Year 12 studies at Cyril Jackson Senior Campus.  Rahel also was acknowledged at the Year 11 Presentation Ceremony at Cyril Jackson with a certificate presented to her by Marilynn Horgan and Sheila Watters from the Zonta Club of Swan Hills.

This photograph was taken at Rahel's Year 12 Graduation Ceremony held at Cyril Jackson Senior Campus in November 2008.  Rahel, after completing Year 12 and a school-based traineeship in Aged Care, will now go on to study as a nurse with T.A.F.E.  We wish her all the best in this next stage of her life.
