Welcome to the Zonta Club of Swan Hills
A Letter from our president.
It is my pleasure to welcome
you to the website for the Zonta Club of Swan Hills Inc. As
a way of introducing myself I have decided to share with you
my journey and experiences with this wonderful, vibrant and
fun-loving group of women.
I joined Zonta in February
2002, after having attended dinner meetings at the
invitation of a friend. It was a time in my life when the
children had left home, leading entirely independent lives,
and I felt the need to do something “useful” with my life.
What a surprise and joy it was
to find a Club with such exciting and genuinely wonderful
women who were all on the same mission as myself. Women from
a diversified range of professions, races and creeds. For
the first few months I just sat back and marvelled at what a
group of determined fun-loving women could do. The
overriding question became “What can I do, or what can I
offer this group? Where do I fit in?”
It wasn't long before I found
my niche in Public Relations, and a short time later I took
on the position of Birthing Kit Co-ordinator. Whilst I have
passed this mantle on to my successor I still hold the
position of Area 3 Birthing Kit Co-ordinator.
The Zonta Club of Swan Hills
Inc is not about forcing anyone to be or do anything they
don't want to. It is about encouraging and achieving our
goals and objectives, namely “Advancing the Status of Women
Worldwide”. West Australia proudly supports 6 Zonta Clubs as
part of Area 3. All wonderful women making a difference.
Local Projects include:
Annual Studies
Assistance Grant – This award encourages young
women to undertake further studies to enhance their
employment and life opportunities. We financially assist a
post compulsory female student in pursuing her studies.
Young Women in Public
Affairs Award – This award encourages young women
students to enter careers in public affairs, public policy
or community organisations.
Woman of Achievement
Award – This recognises women in our community who
have contributed above and beyond her call of duty.
Currently there are a further 4
International projects sponsored by our Club.
I invite all business women to
take the first step towards making a difference to the lives
of other girls and women in need of our help, both locally
and internationally. Feel free to navigate the pages of our
website or follow the link to Zonta International and
discover what a truly wonderful organisation this is. We
look forward to having you attend one of our dinner meetings
with a view to joining us on our journey.
